Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic modality that can be helpful for a variety of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship problems.

IFS recognizes that we all have an inner system of parts, protectors and wounded parts, that develop throughout our life. It can be particularly helpful for people who have experienced trauma or abuse, as it can help to heal the parts that are carrying the wounds of trauma.

I particularly like IFS because it is an approach that acknowledges our inner self, our inner wisdom. It can sometimes feel like a guided meditation as you get to know yourself and create harmony within.

More about IFS: IFS embraces the idea that our internal world is made up of parts. Each part has its own qualities, desires and intentions, and all parts are actually trying to help.

Just like in any family or system, our parts, our inner system, really want to be heard and understood. Sometimes parts can conflict with other parts and create internal struggles and challenges.

We also all have a self, the core of our being, the core of who we are. IFS can help you access self and bring healing to parts of you that are carrying wounds, which can help to free up more of your own self energy.
